What is an FCP?

First Contact Practitioners are highly trained Physiotherapists, based in Barnsley and working in GP Practices. They have extensive experience in assessment and advice for musculoskeletal conditions. They see a wide range of problems such as joint, muscle or spinal pains.

What should you expect from your FCP?

Assessment and diagnosis of your problem and to be given expert advice on how best to manage your condition.

Onwards referrals if required. This can include a referral to physiotherapy for continuing treatment, arranging diagnostic investigations if required.

How to book an appointment…

You can see an FCP without the need for a GP appointment. Book directly by calling your own GP practice and ask to see the FCP.

If you have symptoms in more than one area, please request two appointments.

Please note, FCP clinics are held at many practices across the Barnsley area, so please be prepared to travel for your appointments.
